Welcome to The Jode à la mode, where you can check in for "up to date" information about the Jode. She truly is like pie à la mode with a cherry on top (she is sweet, caring, compassionate, she is truly the good on top of already good things). We know how much you all care for her, and want to know how she is doing and what the latest information is. This is the easiest way to communicate that information.
As many of you are aware, The Jode was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma T1 (size of the tumor) of the tongue, or oral cancer last week. She underwent a biopsy, has met with an ENT specialist and has had a CT scan of her head and neck. We are anxiously awaiting the result of those scans.
Regardless of the results, she will undergo surgery on Thursday to remove more of her tongue. Once we know the results of the scan, we will know how extensive the surgery will be and if she needs to undergo chemotherapy and radiation.  The surgery is very painful. She will not be able to talk very well for a few weeks and it will be painful to swallow so she won't be eating much (not the type of diet any of us want to go on!!!)
We truly appreciate all your thoughts, prayers and concerns for her. She truly feels blessed to know so many of you are thinking of her. We will post information as it becomes available so check back often.

  1. We love you and all of your family. Prayers, good wishes and anything you might need (eventually smoothies, shakes and anything else you might be able to eat) coming your way. We love you, Jody!

  4. Thank you for the sweet you know what. Now we will have people talking won't we? I hope you are feeling a tiny bit better each day. When you are the one healing it seem like an eternity but trust the master of healing - you will get back to "normal" whatever that is and then we can celebrate!!!!!! LUV-U
